Renga Tree: Elegy

Literature Text
When the silence grows,
Unprepared though you may be,
Exhale in relief—
"This old heart has journeyed far,
Felt much, and survived."
Remember this, and rejoice!
Fill yourself with pride
Stronger than mere borrowed flesh,
And see your true face,
A poem greater than words.
If ever we meet
In someplace other than this,
Let our pens do the talking.
Unprepared though you may be,
Exhale in relief—
"This old heart has journeyed far,
Felt much, and survived."
Remember this, and rejoice!
Fill yourself with pride
Stronger than mere borrowed flesh,
And see your true face,
A poem greater than words.
If ever we meet
In someplace other than this,
Let our pens do the talking.
A somewhat morbid choka written in response to saiun's Unmoved as part of the 2018 April Fool's Renga Tree at the-haiku-club.

What a beautiful one!
In this everlasting
darkness, should we ever find love
we'll burn bright.
